After a period of time in training it is human nature to want to try out or put your new found skills to the test. Well without walking up to your local mad man and shouting out, "Bring it on!" which we don't recommend, karate can be difficult to truly test.

This is when some karate schools turn to breaking wood or tiles to test their strength of technique. But to quote Bruce Lee, "Wood doesn't hit back".

Therefore outside of a real fighting situation which, being a true student of karate, you should try and avoid whenever possible, this leads you to the conclusion that inspired competition karate.

It allows you to fight against an opponent using your karate technique but in a controlled enviroment with rules and regulations to keep you as safe as possible.

Critics may say the sport is nothing like a real fight as there are rules and therefore it isn't a real test. That is true but also bear in mind that at National level your opponent has normally spent at least ten years training in how to hit you with punch and kick combinations as fast as they physically can, so they tend to move a little quicker than your avarage troublemaker with 10 pints inside them.

In a competition fight the aim is to out skill your opponent by blocking and avoiding their techniques and delivering yours to the main target areas with good speed and form. This is judged by a team of officials working to the rules and regulations set out by the World Karate Federation. The Associated Karate Schools instructors have been trained in these rules by the World Chief Referee.

Whether you just want to give it a go to have fun, or your aim is to represent your country, we provide the training you need.

Competition karate is there for everyone to enjoy!
